Interfaith Center for Advancing Justice

Signature Program

Helping our diverse religious communities to be prepared in the event of a crisis, with a special focus on proactive regard for those who are most vulnerable in a time of hardship and with a major concern for the justice issues at stake in a crisis event.

Program Initiatives

1. Annually updating and widely distributing the Emergency Food, Shelter and Health Care Directory, the region’s most compact, comprehensive guide of its kind in print and on our website, estimated to serve more than 300,000 people throughout metropolitan Washington.

2. Addressing public policy issues, especially religious freedom, with a unified, moral voice that reflects IFC’s members’ diverse religious perspectives.  This includes further developing our InterFaith Legislative Review Committee to strengthen collaboration on religious freedom issues, mediating interfaith conflicts, as well as responding to hate crimes and other acts that tear at the fabric of our community.

3. Sponsoring the Interfaith Power & Light (IPL) program, which supports local congregations of all faiths in saving energy, going green, and responding to climate change.  The Greater Washington affiliate of Interfaith Power & Light (GW-IPL) is part of a network of IPL groups across the country that are building a national religious response to the climate crisis.
