SUMMARY:Beyond "Us vs Them": Jewish–Muslim Dialogue\, Nuance\, and Relationship in Polarized Times
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Event by The Interfaith Center at Miami University\nRegister in advance for this meeting:\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/wBhws4DIRlWNxET_39sIIw#/registration \nRecent findings from the Religion Media Centre suggests that political polarization surrounding global conflicts has begun to erode confidence in interfaith engagement\, with some faith leaders avoiding public affiliation with Jewish or Muslim communities due to fear of backlash\, misrepresentation\, or threat. \nThis event creates a reflective and carefully facilitated space to explore what it means to sustain Jewish–Muslim relations in such a climate. Rather than rehearsing geopolitical arguments\, the dialogue will focus on the deeper questions facing interfaith practice today: the rise of “us vs them” thinking\, the collapse of nuance in public discourse\, the conflation of religious identity with political positions\, and the ethical responsibilities involved in speaking about conflict. \nParticipants will be invited to consider how interfaith spaces can resist polarization\, affirm shared human suffering\, challenge harmful generalizations\, and cultivate forms of dialogue that are both compassionate and intellectually responsible. The aim is not consensus\, but greater clarity\, humility\, and a renewed commitment to sustaining relationships across difference.
