SUMMARY:Combating Prejudice from Inside and Outside our Communities
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to Rumi Forum Young Adult Dialogue and Virtual Iftar Event! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/combating-prejudice-from-inside-and-outside-our-communities-tickets-147665247731\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nThis event is a Muslim-Jewish interfaith dialogue for college students and young professionals in the DMV area. The conversation\, which will feature guest speakers\, will center around combating antisemitism and Islamophobia from the outside while also addressing prejudice and misunderstanding within our own communities. We hope to bring Muslim and Jewish young adults together to learn about one another’s faiths and experiences and to use this knowledge and empathy to become better allies united against hatred. Amidst rising antisemitism and Islamophobia throughout the United States\, we need to have these conversations and advance Muslim-Jewish solidarity. Our partners in carrying out this event will be Jewish and Muslim institutions across DMV area college campuses\, faith organizations for young professionals\, and interfaith institutions. \nAt around 7:30\, immediately following the discussion\, there will be an Iftar social hour and casual conversation. \nOutline \n6:00 – 6:05 Moderator: Introduce event and speakers (5 min.) \n6:05 – 6:12 Speaker 1: Hate from the outside/coming together against hate (7 min.) \n6:12 – 6:19 Speaker 2: \n6:20 – 6:40 Open discussion/breakout rooms – speaker or moderator give prompt \n6:40 – 6:50 Come together and share thoughts\, ask questions \n6:50 – 6:57 Speaker 1: Prejudice from inside the community \n6:57 – 7:04 Speaker 2: \n7:05 – 7:25 20 mins open discussion with prompt \n7:30-8:15: Space for any additional remarks\, closing remarks and transition to Iftar
