Most of the investment comes through tax incentives. Under a novel provision known as “direct pay” or “elective pay”\, tax exempt entities\, like local governments\, nonprofits and faith organizations – can benefit from these tax incentives. Tax credits can provide significant financial assistance as tax exempt entities work to transition their fleets and provide for solar\, geothermal or other types of clean energy.
