Empowered Women: Two Faiths, Common Challenges

We welcome your attendance and participation at this important event, to recognize the triumphs and struggles of accomplished women from two faith traditions (Jewish and Muslim) and examine how those faith traditions have impacted their personal stories. Our panel will provide illuminating insights into what it is like to juggle the demands of 21st century life from the perspective of their respective faith traditions. The presenters will be Rabbi Avis Miller, Emeritus Rabbi at Adas Israel, Dr. Sahar Khamis, Professor of Communications at Univ. of Maryland College Park, the Honorable Allison Silberberg, former Mayor of Alexandria, VA,and Lobna (Lubna) Ismael, Founder and President of a bridge-building organization called Connecting Cultures. Q & A will follow, and the event will end with audience members interacting in small group discussions.
