SUMMARY:Faith in a Time of Crisis
DESCRIPTION:This will be the first of a two part JIDS series. Presentations will be given by: Safi Kaskas\, a Muslim scholar and co-author of “The Qur’an: A Contemporary Understanding\,” which not only translates the Qur’an but relates its ideas to those of both testaments of the Christian Bible; and by Rabbi Gilah Lagner\, congregational rabbi for both Kol Ami\, a Reconstructionist Jewish community in Arlington\, VA\, and Shirat HaNefesh\, an Independent Jewish community in Chevy Chase\, MD\, and the founding publisher of the journal Kerem: Creative Explorations in Judaism.    This session will be followed by another session later in the summer on the same general topic\, with presentations by two beloved local clergy: Imam Johari Abdul-Malik and Rabbi Hazzan Rachel Anne Hersh.
