The Lottery

November 9, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The Lottery is an interactive art show about immigration, created by Xena Ni during her 3 month residency at Hole in the Sky for the Derek Lieu Residency Program.

You’ll be immersed in 3 stories:

1. what Xena and her family gained and lost when they came to America,

2. how millions of families will face similar hardships due to new policies targeting working class immigrants,

3. and how you can join local activists who are fighting back.

This show is personal. This show is a warning. This show is a call for to act up. Many of our friends and neighbors have organized to stand with immigrants and their families. Learn 6 ways you can support local organizers at The Lottery.

The Lottery features performances by local musicians Rosie Cima, Brenna Muller and Kelly Servick. Organizers with local immigration advocacy groups, La ColectiVA, Sanctuary DMV, Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC, and the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance will be present to speak about their work. Volunteers with AAJC will host a Story Studio, collecting stories to support their ongoing advocacy.

About the artist:
