SUMMARY:Wear Orange Gun Violence Prevention Service at the National Cathedral
DESCRIPTION:Washington National Cathedral\n3101 Wisconsin Ave NW \nOn behalf of the Washington National Cathedral\, we invite you and your network to our annual ‘Wear Orange’ Noon Eucharist service. On Wednesday\, June 3rd\, 2026\, at 12:00 p.m. We welcome community members throughout the region to gather in Bethlehem Chapel to remember the countless lives lost each day to gun violence. \nIn recognition of National Gun Violence Awareness Day\, all are invited to gather at 11:30am on the north side of the Cathedral outside of the Cathedral’s memorial garden\, prior to the Noon Eucharist Worship Service. The Bourdon Bell\, the Cathedral’s largest funeral bell\, will toll for approximately ten minutes to honor victims of gun violence. \nThe Rev. Delonte Gholston will offer a special message at noon in Bethlehem Chapel following the bell tolling. The service\, held in conjunction with the Washington National Cathedral Congregation’s Gun Violence Prevention Ministry\, will offer prayers and liturgy\, and an opportunity for deep reflection for those whose lives have been impacted by gun violence. \nOn this special day\, we encourage the donning of the color orange. The color orange has become the defining color of the movement for gun violence prevention and is worn to recognize the roughly 120 lives that are killed each day. As part of our mission\, the Cathedral is committed to lifting and representing voices and experiences that have not been at the forefront of our story. As a house of prayer for all people\, this Cathedral seeks to create spaces and times to welcome all. \nWe hope you can join us. This service is an opportunity to encourage the surrounding community in uniting together to honor those whom we have lost to gun violence\, while recognizing the work that must continue each and every day.
