Join Democracy in Action’s Day-Long Campaign Training!

Do you want to organize a campaign on your campus to resist Trump’s autocratic attacks on our freedoms as students? Or are you a student who has already been attending Democracy in Action trainings to learn from past student movements & create a fall campaign plan?

On July 26th, at Greenpeace USA’s office (Franklin Park, DC), we’re organizing a day-long campaign planning retreat and kickoff for new & trained students to develop their campus campaign plans and begin outreach to allies at their college ahead of the fall.

Info for the Democracy in Action Planning & Strategy Retreat:

  • WHEN: July 26th 10AM-6PM
  • WHERE: 1300 I St NW (Franklin Park, DC – 1 block from McPherson Sq. metro stop (orange/blue/silver), 3 blocks from Metro Ctr metro stop on the red line.
  • FOR: students looking to learn how to organize anti-authoritarian campaigns on campus AND students already attending Democracy in Action trainings to resist Trump’s attacks.
  • We will have lunch & snacks throughout the event!

During the day-long student organizing training you will:

  • Hear from leaders in the democracy movement including LULAC President, Juan Proano and leaders from ACLU and Greenpeace
  • Enjoy participatory workshops on how to work across disagreement, resolve conflicts that come up without being sidetracked, and hone your recruitment and strategic organizing skills.
  • Learn and practice with expert support your organizing skills including setting goals, designing a campaign timeline, practicing outreach tactics, & strategies for escalation
  • Work with your peers from similar campuses to design plans for successful the fall campaign
  • Build community & solidarity with fellow students organizing campus campaigns in the fall
  • You’ll will walk away from the training having clear goals, a detailed campus plan, and a network of fellow students to work with.

You’ll be prepared to build towards a kickoff event in the first few weeks of the fall semester, advocate & organize for a Firewall resolution/referendum, and mobilize your campus to take part in a student-led national day of action towards protecting students, faculty and freedom for all members of the campus community to grow and learn.
