March 28, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

François Couperin’s Leçons de ténèbre
George Fergus, organ

Sunday, March 28 | 6 pm EST

Join the Washington National Cathedral after the concert at 7:00pm EST for a live Q&A with the artists on Zoom.

Registrants will be sent a link to view the concert on March 28.

As we walk with Jesus to Calvary, this concert provides a soundtrack for the emotional journey that takes us from the cross to the empty tomb. Escape the business of the world and feel the power of a week that changed history.

Sopranos Laura Choi Stuart and Elissa Edwards present Leçons de ténèbres, an evocative piece by François Couperin that conveys the passion and agony of Holy Week. Written in 1714 and based on the anguish of the Book of Lamentations, this piece is a masterwork of French Baroque repertoire.

Featuring: Laura Choi Stuart & Elissa Edwards, sopranos; William Sims, lute; Thomas Sheehan, organ; and Loren Ludwig, viola da gamba.
