December 10 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Event Navigation
Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign for a special evening program on Tuesday, December 10th from 6:30-9:30pm at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA. We will host a premiere short film screening and thoughtful community discussion on the very real challenges (and opportunities) of interfaith collaboration and building pluralism in this era. You won’t want to miss it.
As a small part of a broader effort to capture stories and wisdom from our elders, we’ve created a short 15:52 minute film, “Planting Seeds for Pluralism in America: The Syeed Family” highlighting Dr. Sayyid and Rafia Syeed’s practices of principled pluralism as told by their eldest daughter, Afeefa. Additionally, this evening will conclude our outgoing Director of Strategic Communications, Rev. Cassandra Lawrence’s seven years of serving at Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign. We’ll send her off with well wishes for her as she moves from Washington, D.C. on to her new position as the Associate Chaplain at Grinnell College in Iowa.

As many feel discouraged about interfaith work for many reasons, including because of an assumption that we must downplay our differences or beliefs, we hope this film and our overall work will uplift a message that one can be fully who they are as they engage across differences to shape this country and this world into a better place.
We hope you’ll join us for an evening of thoughtful discussion, inspiration, and hope; and we look forward to catching up with you over dinner & chai.
