Come join us for a participatory event! Rather than having a panel, this event will turn the floor over to the attendees – meaning you!   We’ll ask those who wish to volunteer to identify one or more common stereotypes and other misconceptions associated with the Muslim or Jewish faiths, or with the Muslim or Jewish people.  If you are so inclined, you will also be given time to explain what makes those conceptions false.   This session will provide a much-needed opportunity to better understand each other’s faiths and folk, and just as importantly, to know how to respond better when people malign us.  It is no secret that both Islamophobia and antisemitism are thriving due to widespread ignorance, and it is crucial that JIDS members become foot soldiers in the battle to combat such ignorance.  This session should be invaluable in giving us the tools to do that.

So please come and bring your voices and ideas.  As always, we will provide time for small group discussions in addition to meeting in a plenary session.
