Unitarian Universalist Church of Loudoun (UUCL)
(Leesburg, VA, October 7, 2018.)  Longtime community crusader for social justice and interfaith understanding Priscilla Martinez will be honored on October 23rd at the third annual Loudoun Falls for Social Justice celebration, at the Leesburg Junction from 6-8 PM. The annual Ann Robinson Social Justice Award is given to unsung heroes who work to improve the lives of others, intervene to redress injustices, and promote empowerment and inclusivity. Martinez is being honored for her longstanding leadership with Loudoun Interfaith BRIDGES, among many other dedicated volunteer efforts.
The annual Loudoun Falls for Social Justice celebration, organized by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Loudoun (UUCL), is an event showcasing a range of organizations and individuals who strive every day to strengthen the social and economic fabric of Loudoun County.   The award is named after longtime Leesburg resident Ann Robinson, who worked tirelessly to advance the inherent worth and dignity of all, and to promote the power of diversity and inclusion, until her death on July 21, 2016.
Martinez has been a fierce champion of social justice across the Loudoun community for many years. In addition to her work with BRIDGES, she has served in various positions within the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of the USA, as well as on the Board of Directors of The Organization of Virginia Homeschoolers, the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship, and as president of her local library’s advisory board. She founded the Holistic Families Circle of the All Dulles Area Muslim Society, is a practicing aromatherapist and herbalist, and a fourth-generation native Texan who raises a flock of egg-laying hens with her family at their home in the Shenandoah foothills.
“We are honored to invite the public to attend the October 23rd event,” said UUCL Reverend Alice King, “not only to thank Priscilla Martinez for her dedication to social justice, but also to celebrate the efforts of local community groups who work every day to improve the lives of those in need.”
