Faith and the Supreme Court

November 12, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

On Sunday, Nov. 12th at 2:00 p.m, JIDS will sponsor a dialogue entitled “Faith and the Supreme Court,” which will examine the religious protections of the First Amendment through the lens of the Supreme Court.  We will be meeting at the perfect venue — the Hill Havurah congregation, which is located a half-block from the Supreme Court building, at 212 E. Capitol St., N.E., Washington DC 20003.  This event will begin with a talk by Mark Sherman, the eminent Associated Press reporter who has specialized in covering the Supreme Court since 2006.  That will be followed by a Q&A and then small group dialogues.  The First Amendment has presented a number of challenges to the nation’s commitment to the free exercise of religion, religious pluralism, and the ability to balance religious and secular interests.  Let’s grapple with these challenges together and learn more about the ever-evolving Supreme Court on November 12th.

Please RSVP for the Nov. 12th event to [email protected].
