JAMAAT Lights for Liberty Vigil

July 3, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

A message from JAMAAT:

Dear Friends,

“You shall not oppress a stranger, since you yourselves know the feelings of a stranger, for you also were strangers in the land of Egypt.”  Leviticus 19:33

Like many of you, I have been increasingly horrified at the escalating humanitarian crisis at our southern border and ICE detention camps.  On Friday, July 12, there will be vigils around the country and worldwide to protest the inhumane conditions faced by refugees.  In our area, there will be a vigil at LaFayette Square, across from the White House from 7 to 10 pm.   Please consider joining me and others from Beth Chai for the vigil.

Let’s meet at 6:45 pm at Compass Coffee,   800 17th St NW, Washington, DC 20006.   It is located between the Farragut North Metro and the Lafayette Square, at the corner of 17th and H Street.

If you plan on joining me at the vigil, please sign up at http://bit.ly/LightsforLiberty

If you have any questions or want more details, please do not hesitate to reach out to me: [email protected].

L’Shalom,

Rabbi Debbie Cohen
