Shedding Fears & Choosing Faith: Understanding & Countering Islamophobia

What is Islamophobia in the United States and how does it impact our daily lives? What fears might we hold and why do we have them? What strategies and tactics can we utilize to build more just, equitable, inclusive, and pluralistic communities? Join colleagues in the Washington Interreligious Staff Community for a timely in-person interfaith discussion on “Shedding Fears & Choosing Faith: Understanding & Countering Islamophobia in the U.S.” on Wednesday, September 18th from 12:00 – 2:00pm at the United Methodist Building (110 Maryland Ave. NE Washington, D.C.). This discussion will feature Arshan Khalid, Director of ISNA’s National Office for Interfaith, Community Alliances, and Government Relations (IOICA), Erum Ikramullah, Senior Research Project Manager at the Institute for Social Policy & Understanding (ISPU), Salam Al-Marayati, President of Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), and Rev. Cassandra Lawrence, Director of Strategic Communications at the Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign (S2S).

This event is hosted by the Islamic Society of North America, the Institute for Social Policy & Understanding, Muslim Public Affairs Council, and the Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign.
