Help Unite Greenbelt (HUG) Walk
Residents of Greenbelt are invited to join the annual HUG Walk (Help Unite Greenbelt With A Little Kindness) this Sunday, October 9th at 1:00 pm (Rain or Shine). People of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, beliefs and faiths will walk together in a public demonstration of unity and community strength. McLean Community Rise Against Hunger Meal Packaging Event
Since 2010 McLean Community Rise Against Hunger Events has held eleven events and packaged 3,000,000 meals. It is a great opportunity for people of different faith traditions to come together to help end world hunger. The goal for this year’s event will be to package 200,000 meals, requiring contributions of $76,000 (38¢ per meal) and 1200 volunteers. Three shifts beginning 8am; 11am; 2pm. Memorial Volunteer Day at Peirce Mill Orchard in Rock Creek Park
ForestPlanet supports high-volume forest restoration projects around the world to the tune of 1.5 million trees planted to date. We also like to get our hands dirty supporting other tree projects where we can, especially in our own back yard, i.e. Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC. Hi all! Please join us to (belatedly) celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot! Sukkot, a Hebrew word meaning booths or huts, refers to the Jewish festival of giving thanks for the fall harvest.
