Cyrus the Great Day Celebration
Join the Zoroastrian Association of Metropolitan Washington for a celebration of Cyrus the Great Day! The event will feature speaker Reza S. Zarghamee, author of Discovering Cyrus: The Persian Conqueror Astride the Ancient World. Light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Strands of Compassion Concert
Internationally-acclaimed concert artists and activist virtuosos, Christoph Wagner, cellist, and Joanne Kong, pianist, will weave together music, reflections, and imagery in an inspiring event. The program will be followed by a free plant-based supper, with favorite foods from several ethnic and cultural traditions such as Indian, African, Mexican, Thai, and soul food among others, discussion, and meet & greet with our wonderful guest artists. Since 2010 McLean Community Rise Against Hunger Events has held eleven events and packaged 3,000,000 meals. It is a great opportunity for people of different faith traditions to come together to help end world hunger. The goal for this year’s event will be to package 200,000 meals, requiring contributions of $76,000 (38¢ per meal) and 1200 volunteers. Three shifts beginning 8am; 11am; 2pm. DC Temple Festival of Lights
