Shared Traditions: Interfaith Day of Service
What: The EDCJCC and Project Affinity are partnering for a morning of interfaith conversation and volunteering! Join our Muslim neighbors at Project Affinity to share ways our traditions both mandate serving others and then work together to pack lunches and toiletry kits for folks experiencing homelessness. After we make the lunches and toiletry kits we will travel to a park near the JCC to pass them out to people experiencing homelessness.

Taste of Mimouna!
Sample tantalizing dishes, enjoy traditional Andalusi-style songs, and take a special tour of artworks that express the interfaith themes inspired by Mimouna traditions—a special time when Moroccan Jews and Muslims break bread together! Join liturgical artist Shir Ifrah as she performs the music and poetry of Mimouna. This festival, which marks the end of Passover and the advent of spring, is based on Moroccan narratives of unity, commemoration, goodwill, and friendship. Click here to register.

A site-specific immersive exhibition allowing guests to explore their (a)theism in community while engaging all five senses at different exhibits, in an amazing historical building on the campus of Virginia Theological Seminary. An interfaith panel including the Reverend Sari Ateek, Rector, St. John’s Norwood, Imam Faizul Khan, Islamic Society of the Washington Area, and Rabbi Greg Harris, Congregation Beth El of Bethesda, Maryland, will discuss from the perspective of their faith traditions how the imperative to care for the Other transcends divisions and binds us in our common humanity. Religion 101: IFC Religious and Cultural Literacy Workshop
Join us for a virtual Religious and Cultural Literacy Workshop that focuses on the Baha'i and Jewish faiths. The workshop will include two 20 minute video presentations on both religions, including historical background, concepts of the Divine, forms of worship and core beliefs and values. Be part of a one night only nationwide screening of "Soul Doctor" - a filmed musical story about the largely unknown friendship between Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach and Nina Simone in 1960's America. Their friendship transcended boundaries of faith, race, and culture, offering a powerful example of unity and harmony in a divided nation.
