Full Unity Walk 2023 Program

IFC’s annual Unity Walk is a public demonstration of love and support for all who live in our region. Walk with participants of all ages to visit different houses of worship in upper Northwest DC to learn about and experience diverse faith traditions. There will be additional opportunities to engage with fellow walkers through moderated speed dialogues, a family activity, hosted by the Center for Children and Theology, an intergenerational storytelling workshop, hosted by the Multifaith Storytelling Institute, an interfaith environmental workshop, hosted by Interfaith Power and Light-DMV, and more! Come by yourself or bring friends to celebrate the wonderful diversity that exists in our region.

This year’s walk will take place on Sunday, September 10th from 12:30pm-5:30pm. The Walk will begin at Washington Hebrew Congregation (3935 Macomb St NW, Washington, DC) and end at the Islamic Center of Washington, DC (2551 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC). For the full program, please click here.

Tickets are $10 or $5 (students, seniors, and those of limited income). All participants must register. If it is against your religious practice to handle money on Sundays, you can register for the walk here. For groups of 10 or more, please email Symi Rom-Rymer ([email protected]) for registration details.

We invite you to table at Walk or support the Walk as a co-sponsoring organization, congregation or as an individual. Click here to learn more! If you have already registered to table at the Walk, click here for further logistical information. Thank you to all our 2023 co-sponsors!

Donation Alert! This year’s service project is in partnership with Brooks Family Shelter. We will be putting together family kits, including back-to-school supplies, for the school-aged kids living in the shelter. If you have new or gentle used backpacks, please consider donating them to this project. You can bring your backpacks to Annunciation Catholic Church the weekend of Sept. 1oth (before the walk begins) and drop them off at the Parish Hall.

There are several ways to get to this year’s Unity Walk. If you are driving, there will be free on street parking around Washington Hebrew Congregation. The synagogue lot will NOT be open to walkers. There is also free street parking further along Massachusetts Ave., NW should you want to drive part of the route. If you’ll be taking the Metro, the closest Metro stop to the Unity Walk is Tenleytown Metro (Red Line) which is about a 10-15min. walk from Washington Hebrew Congregation. The length of the walk is about 1.7mi. You are welcome to join us for as much of walk as is comfortable for you. There will be buses at the Islamic Center of DC to take people back to Washington Hebrew Congregation following the Closing Ceremony.

We look forward to seeing you there!
