This event will explore what drives people to demonize members of other groups and how demonization underlies the conflict in Israel/Palestine and other conflicts in the world. We will be led by Ron Kraybill, whose career has been at the frontlines of peacebuilding. After graduating from Harvard University and the Univ. of Cape Town, Ron launched the Mennonite Conciliation Service and has led conflict resolution training across North America. His experience also includes training national and regional leaders in South Africa on negotiation and peacebuilding during that nation’s turbulent transition from apartheid. Ron has additionally co-founded the Conflict Transformation Program at Eastern Mennonite University and has served as an advisor for peace efforts in Jerusalem, Lesotho, the Philippines and the Solomon Islands. As always, after we hear Ron’s presentation, we will reserve time for Q&A and then move into small group discussions, which are typically the most rewarding portion of our sessions.
