Inter-Faith Text Study

September 26, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

The Office of the Council of Bishops and the General Board of Church and Society of The United Methodist Church are hosting a monthly inter-faith text study in the United Methodist Building on Capitol Hill.  Using the method known as Scriptural Reasoning, this study group brings together members of the Abrahamic faiths for focused discussion on specific parallel passages from the sacred texts of each tradition.

Scriptural Reasoning (SR) is best descried as “a tool for inter-faith dialogue whereby people of different faiths come together to read and reflect on their scriptures….The result is often a deeper understanding of others’ and one’s own scriptures, as well as the development of strong bonds across faith communities” (scripturalreasoning.org).

The group will meet at 100 Maryland Ave. NE, Washington D.C. 20002 from 12:00 noon t0 1:30 p.m. on the following Wednesdays this fall: September 26October 17, and November 21.  We would love for you to join us!  If you are interested in participating in this study group please contact Kyle Tau ([email protected]) and Jessie Smith ([email protected]) for more information.
