Screening of First Person Plural

November 21, 2019 @ 6:00 am - 9:30 pm

First Person Plural is a new independent feature film about two Minneapolis filmmakers—the son of a Somali imam and daughter of white Baptist preacher who fall in love on Thanksgiving Day and bring together their estranged families.

While First Person Plural is largely a love story that shows how much they have in common, it ends with a cautionary twist, as a younger brother’s bumbling threats escalate into something real and dangerous.  The older siblings’ love shows how love can conquer all.  But, as we’re so sadly reminded by so many recent events, love and understanding are fragile, and need our care and courage.

After the screening, director, Eric Tretbar will be doing a Q&A with one of our lead actors, activist-filmmaker Fathia Absie, whose intercultural project EatWithMuslims.org will provide delicious Somali appetizers.  The film also stars Faysal Ahmed (CAPT PHILLIPS), Pearce Bunting (BOARDWALK EMPIRE) and writer Ahmed Ismail Yusuf (The Lion’s Binding Oath).

Ticket Cost:$14 advance (promo code ADV30) / $20 door
