An interfaith panel including the Reverend Sari Ateek, Rector, St. John’s Norwood, Imam Faizul Khan, Islamic Society of the Washington Area, and Rabbi Greg Harris, Congregation Beth El of Bethesda, Maryland, will discuss from the perspective of their faith traditions how the imperative to care for the Other transcends divisions and binds us in our common humanity. Religion 101: IFC Religious and Cultural Literacy Workshop
Join us for a virtual Religious and Cultural Literacy Workshop that focuses on the Baha'i and Jewish faiths. The workshop will include two 20 minute video presentations on both religions, including historical background, concepts of the Divine, forms of worship and core beliefs and values. Be part of a one night only nationwide screening of "Soul Doctor" - a filmed musical story about the largely unknown friendship between Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach and Nina Simone in 1960's America. Their friendship transcended boundaries of faith, race, and culture, offering a powerful example of unity and harmony in a divided nation. Eid al-Adha is a celebration to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah and his readiness to sacrifice his son, Ismail.
