CBS Special: “Religion & Identity in Young America”

March 31, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

Earlier this month, the Sikh Coalition announced that CBS’s Religion & Culture documentary series will feature multiple faith-based communities – including the Sikh community – and examine religious-based bullying in schools. The 30-minute episode is scheduled to begin airing in regional media markets across the country and on digital platforms this Sunday, March 31st.

The CBS special, “Religion & Identity in Young America,” will feature multiple Sikh interviews – including New Jersey high school student and former Sikh Coalition legal client Akashdeep Singh, and his mother, Dapinder Kaur; New Jersey community leader Sandeep Singh; and psychologist Muninder Kaur Ahluwalia, Ph.D. The episode will also include Khalsa school students from Guru Nanak Mission Gurudwara’s Sikh Academy for Gurmat Education (SAGE), and the Junior Sikh Coalition.

In addition to the Sikh community, the CBS episode will also feature stories from Jewish and Muslim communities. The documentary highlights how each religious community helps young people face bigotry with faith and resolve.
