Intergenerational Dialog on Race, Discrimination and Violent Extremism

March 1, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Intergenerational Dialog on Race, Discrimination and Violent Extremism:

The dialog will feature:

  • Grammy-winning musician, author, and race reconciliator Daryl Davis;
  • Former Mississippi KKK Grand Dragon, and now well-known anti-racism activist Scott Shepard; and
  • Youth Creating Change leaders, as moderators.

The YCC leaders will facilitate a discussion with Daryl and Scott about their stories, and how we can persuade violent racists to change their minds.

This event builds on the dialog work CUAH has been doing since our Dialog: Where Do We Go From Here? Moving Forward in a Divided Land, which we organized with your support in February 2021. In the Spring, we hosted a virtual restorative community-building circle for students and adults to share experiences of school during the pandemic. In the Fall, three members of our current class of YCC Fellows began working with DC Peace Team to support restorative justice practices in their schools. Two more Fellows are creating Social Media for Social Justice, which trains high school students to counter disinformation on social media. Below, you’ll find CUAH’s end-of-year newsletter describing our work in 2021.
