Aditi Goel, a 20-year-old cancer survivor, and Sister Dr. Jenna have created a Diwali dance short film featuring people from around the world and all walks of life, including a choreographer to the stars and launches a global Diwali Dance Challenge.

Washington, DC – On Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. EST, Aditi Goel, Sister Jenna, and America Meditating Productions are launching an independent short film which is a gift to the world using today’s technology based on the Hindu Diwali Festival. The film features a Diwali dance recorded on personal smartphones and Zoom. People from all over the globe have joined in by contributing their dance videos. They have also launched a Diwali Dance Challenge where people are asked to record their Diwali Dance and post it on their social media using hashtags #DiwaliDanceChallenge and #AmericaMeditating. “Where there’s truth, the soul dances. This film and the Diwali Dance Challenge are about letting go of our limitations,” explains Sister Jenna.

“We are offering this short film as a gift to the world. Our goal is for people to work towards their own happiness and making the world a better place. The purpose of the Zoom dance is about leaving all your old issues behind and becoming the ignited light that we are. Anything and everything are possible, even beating cancer. Each day should be a celebration of light and love,” said Aditi Goel.

The Diwali Dance film includes two different types of dance choreography. One version is a Western-style dance choreographed by Howard PHeelgooD, who is an award-winning choreographer who has worked with Jennifer Lopez, Michael Jackson, and guests on Dancing with the Stars, to name a few. The Eastern-style version was choreographed by youth leader, Aditi Goel.

Traditionally, Diwali is celebrated all over India as a festival symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. This philosophy is more important than ever considering the state of the world with the COVID-19 global pandemic, climate change, high unemployment rates, food insecurities and challenged economies. People are searching for hope and happiness, which is what the film seeks to accomplish.

Members of the media are invited to interview Aditi Goel and Sister Dr Jenna about this project, their personal journey, and the power of meditation.

About Sister Jenna: Sister Jenna is the host of the America Meditating Radio Show and director of the Brahma Kumaris Meditation Museums and has organized over 19 city wide initiatives building bridge.

About Aditi Goel: Aditi Goel, a student at George Mason University is the author of “Playing with Cancer at Age 13,” and the co-organizer of the Diwali Dance film.
