Just Rest: How Rest Can Transform Our Selves and Our Society

December 13, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

As the days get shorter and nights get longer, we often think of getting cozy, snuggling up, and hibernating, but we may not consider all the ways in which sleep and rest are vital not only for our bodies, but for our mental and spiritual health, and our work for justice, equity, and inclusion. Join DoSER for the 2023 December Dialogues – “Just Rest: How Rest Can Transform Our Selves and Our Society.” Panelists Dom Chatterjee (Rest for Resistance), Dayna Johnson (Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University), and Judith Shulevitz (The Sabbath World) will discuss rest and relaxation not only in terms of personal benefit, but also how sleep and rest are viewed in society and how they can improve health and further social justice.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. It begins at 5:30pm at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) at 1200 New York Ave NW. Reception to follow for in-person attendees.
