This will be the first of a two part JIDS series. Presentations will be given by: Safi Kaskas, a Muslim scholar and co-author of “The Qur’an: A Contemporary Understanding,” which not only translates the Qur’an but relates its ideas to those of both testaments of the Christian Bible; and by Rabbi Gilah Lagner, congregational rabbi for both Kol Ami, a Reconstructionist Jewish community in Arlington, VA, and Shirat HaNefesh, an Independent Jewish community in Chevy Chase, MD, and the founding publisher of the journal Kerem: Creative Explorations in Judaism.    This session will be followed by another session later in the summer on the same general topic, with presentations by two beloved local clergy: Imam Johari Abdul-Malik and Rabbi Hazzan Rachel Anne Hersh.
