Film Screening and Conversation: “Stranger at the Gate”

Smartypants Pictures in partnership with John W. Kiser, William and Mary Greve Foundation and the National Military Family Association invites you to a screening of the 2023 Academy Award-nominated documentary short, “Stranger at the Gate”followed by a conversation with protagonists, Mac McKinney and Bibi Bahrami; and filmmaker, Josh Seftel.

“Stranger at the Gate” recounts the story of Mac McKinney, a U.S. Marine veteran in Muncie, Indiana. After 25 years of service in Iraq and Afghanistan, McKinny returns home with a consuming hatred toward the people he has been fighting overseas and decides to bomb the local mosque. When he comes face-to-face with the Muslim community in Muncie, his plans – and his life – take an unexpected turn.
